Saturday 27 June 2009
South Africa won the second test against the British & Irish Lions to clinch a series win avenging the series defeat to the Lions in 1997 and inflicting a third series defeat in a row on the Lions.
Tuesday 23 June 2009
The Emerging Springboks earned a valuable and deserved draw against the British & Irish Lions to prevent the Lions from beating all their midweek opposition on tour.
Saturday 20 June 2009
The British & Irish Lions nearly pulled off one of the greatest sporting comebacks of all time, but fell just short at the final whistle.
Tuesday 16 June 2009
It was the final warm up match for the British & Irish Lions ahead of the first test on Saturday and the Southern Kings proved to be no push over.
Saturday 13 June 2009
Another win for the Lions, but only just. A last ditch penalty excellently taken by replacement James Hook was needed to ensure the Lions retained their 100% win rate going into the all important final week before the first Test.
Wednesday 10 June 2009
The Lions scored a record win over the Natal Sharks in Durban this evening, but the critics have the knives out and don’t seem as impressed as we do with the performance.
Saturday 6 June 2009
Well, that was a bit of a close call! After the Lions laid down a marker mid week against the Golden Lions, the Cheetahs tore into the British & Irish Lions and gave them an almighty scare with a missed drop goal the difference between a win for the Lions and a massive upset courtesy of the unfancied South African side.
Wednesday 3 June 2009
The British & Irish Lions provided the perfect riposte to the game on Saturday by emphatically winning the game against a Golden Lions side that was stronger than the weekend’s opening opposition.
Saturday 30 May 2009
The Lions stuttered to a rather flattering 37 points to 25 win over the Royal XV at Rustenburg this afternoon.
Saturday 9 July 2005
With all the events of the last few days dominating everyone’s thoughts, trudging up to Eden Park last night for an effectively meaningless test match just failed to stir the passions as much as the previous weeks matches.
Tuesday 5 July 2005
Depending on who you speak to this was either a fantastic spectacle of rugby or it was an absolute shambles. For my part I fall into the former category, I thoroughly enjoyed my evening at Eden Park and I was entertained from the word go.
Saturday 2 July 2005
Well the spin all week has been about Tana Umaga’s spear tackle on Brian O’Driscoll but the All Black captain has had the last laugh.
Tuesday 28 June 2005
A cricket score it may have been, but had the Lions not comprehensively defeated the local side then many searching questions would have been asked at the post match press conference.
Saturday 25 June 2005
Well that was pretty disappointing all round really! The conditions inside the Jade Stadium last night were never going to be conducive to see some good running rugby from either side. However, it was the All Blacks who played to the conditions controlling possession of the ball and stifling the Lions game plan.
Tuesday 21 June 2005
So Gavin Henson gets dropped from the test side and comes out and puts in a heroic man of the match display against Southland. It’s almost as if the script was pre-written for him. I wonder what price you would get on Henson filling that number 12 jersey on Saturday evening?
Saturday 18 June 2005
Well the tour is very much on track. With the exception of the Maori match, the Lions performances have been improving game by game and some individuals are finally beginning to stand up and be counted.
Wednesday 15 June 2005
Five games down, two more to go before the first test in Christchurch and I think we finally have the names of some of those players on the test team sheet.

Well, it was coming wasn’t it! The Lions haven’t learned from their mistakes and all those that have pointed out the obvious about the breakdown area have been convincingly been proved right. Again.
Wednesday 8 June 2005
It’s difficult not to label this Lions side as the midweek team but it is clear that this side is being used to try out those players who are less likely to make the grade into the test team in seventeen days time.
Saturday 4 June 2005
There seems to be a lot of underestimating going on. The Lions fans underestimated the Bay of Plenty and the Steamers/All Black fans underestimated Lions?
Monday 23 May 2005
All the right noises were made by the Lions management that this was the first game of the tour and that it was as important to the side as all the games out in New Zealand, but I don’t think anyone was convinced, not least the fans.
